A World of Stoic Sages

Our world throughout history and still to this day has been far from perfect. But what if everyone suddenly became stoic sages. So first off what is a stoic sage? A sage is someone who has achieved moral and intellectual perfection, a sage has complete control over his or her emotions, and a sage knows that virtue is sufficient for happiness. Ok so how would the world be if everyone in the world attained this level of perfection? The way I imagine is not as a perfect world because this I think would take away the beauty mankind, which is personal uniqueness.

If everyone were a sage life would be like everyone just going through the motions. It would be like hey I love you but only because its natural but I'm not going to love you too much. Where does the drive in life fit in, I have reached perfection what’s next help other people better their lives? Wait everyone else has also reach perfection. How would the world run it’s hard to think of a system where there are no leaders? I do not think there would need to be leaders as everyone would have complete control over them selves which is what a leader is needed for, helping keep control and order within the people. So everyone is equal that’s pretty cool but what would be the point of life in this world? It seems as if being a sage is not only about having freedom and complete happiness but also having an obligation to bettering your self and those around you.

If the world was like this I do not think that there would be a need for stoicism. This is because we kind of have been looking at stoicism as a cure for the enslaved and ill minds of man but what the point of a cure if what it cures is non-existent. This would be a world I would not want to live in because I think it loses the uniqueness of mankind, would the world be a better place? I would have to say it would be but I still would not want to live in it. Eventually I think the humans would also become extinct because another idea of stoicism is the choice a life. They believe if you have done good in life you can choose to take your life as honorable, so in this world everyone has done all good possible and that I think would lead to everyone committing suicide thus, lead to the extinction of the human race.
